The Portsea Socks are worked in the round from the cuff down using the magic loop method. They feature a stretchy ribbed cuff and horizontal micro stripes along the leg created with contrasting yarn. The vertical stripes in main colour are created by slipped stitches to provide texture and added interest to this simple sock design. Once the pattern sequence is established, they are rather quick to knit. The heel is constructed using the traditional heel flap with gusset, and toes are finished using modified gradual decreases, creating a rounded toe construction to suit a wide variety of foot shapes. This pattern is ideal for semi-solid or lightly speckled yarn, choosing high contrast colours will make the horizontal stripes stand out.
